1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores in your browser, usually to remember something between page loads. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, SDKs — do much the same job, and everything in this policy applies to those too.
2. What we use
Strictly necessary
These are set regardless of consent because the site cannot function correctly without them.
- cookie-consent — stores your accept/decline choice so we stop asking. Set by CasterCove, kept in local storage until you clear it. This is the only thing we store if you decline.
Analytics — consent required
- _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics. Distinguishes one visitor from another using a random ID so we can count visits and see which reviews get read. Expires after up to 2 years. IP data is truncated.
Advertising — consent required
- Ad partner cookies — set by the third parties serving display units on this site, used for frequency capping and measurement.
- Affiliate referral cookies — set by the retailer, not by us, when you click a product link. They tell the retailer we referred you so a commission can be credited. Typically expire in 24 hours to 30 days depending on the programme.
3. Your choices
- The consent banner — the simplest route. Decline and no analytics or advertising cookies are set.
- Change your mind — clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will reappear on your next visit, letting you choose again.
- Browser controls — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies globally, or per site.
- Google Analytics opt-out — the official add-on blocks GA across every site you visit.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies is possible but means we'll ask for your consent choice on every page load.
4. Third parties
We don't control cookies set by other companies. Their handling is governed by their own policies — Google's is at policies.google.com/privacy, and each retailer publishes its own.
5. Do Not Track
There is still no agreed standard for how sites should respond to browser DNT signals, so we don't rely on them. Use the consent banner instead — that we honour without exception.
